May 8th, 2008 - Club Executive Elections

Congratulations to the new executive who have been elected to lead the club into another successful year. Our new executive who take up their positions on July 1st for the 2008/2009 Toastmasters Year are as follows:

November 3rd, 2007 - District 45 Conference

Sears-Halifax does it again!! Karen Caldwell takes home 1st prize in the DIstrict 45 Evaluation Contest. Well done Karen , a great achievement. It was definitely Karen's Conference - she was also awarded her Triple Crown, as well as being recognised for achieving 'Distinguished Area' last year as Area 18 Governor. Congratulations also to Jim Bendell, an ex-member of the club, for placing 2nd. (Click on the pictures for a larger version)

October 25th, 2007 - Annual Awards Evening

Our Annual Awards event was held at the Celtic Corner in Dartmouth. A very successful evening with good food, drink and excellent company. Awards presented were: Toastmaster of the Year to Dan Walmsley, Best Table Topics to Dan Walmsley, Best Evaluator to Karen Caldwell, Best Speaker to Dave Hubley, Most Improved to Denis Liboiron and Most Helpful to Cameron Deacoff. Congratulations to all this years recipients. Also present at the event was Joanne Fraser our newest Club Member - welcome to the club!!

October 20th, 2007 - Winner!!

Congratulations to Karen Caldwell on winning the Division D Evaluation Contest. This is a fantastic achievement and Karen now carries on to the Fall Conference to compete for Sears-Halifax in the District 45 Evaluation Contest. Go Karen!!

October 11th, 2007 - We're on a roll!!! Three more New Members

Welcome to our three newest members. Rob Niven, Cameron Ells and Jenny Shi were inducted at the October 11th Meeting. The induction ceremony went smoothly and we're hoping for another inductee on the 18th.

October 6th, 2007 - Contest

Heartiest Congratulations to ACS Karen Caldwell and CC Nadine Wentzell who came second in the Area 18 Evaluation and Speech Contests respectively. Another excellent showing by Sears! Next stop - the Division D Contest on October 20th

October 4th, 2007 - Two New Members

A very warm welcome is extended to our two newest members. Carol Trenholm and Jean Sloan were inducted at the October 4th Meeting. Jean also gave her Ice Breaker speech that same night - is this some sort of record! She then went on to win Best Speaker of the evening - so double congratulations.

September 20th, 2007 - Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contests

An excellent contest was held close to the start of our new season! The winner of the Speech contest was Erna Slingluff with an excellent performance on shoes. Nadine Wentzell (our newest member!) was placed second with another great performance. The Evaluation contest was won by Karen Caldwell. Congratulations to all entrants for taking part - a great step towards 'stepping out of the box' . We look forward to seeing our winners progressing through the next rounds. Also on Contest night (it was a busy night...) the new executive was sworn in by the new Area 18 Governor, Karen Beehan and as alluded to above, Nadine Wentzell was inducted into the club. All in all a great evening.

June, 2007 - Triple Crowns

What a great year of acheivement for our club!! Cameron Deacoff and Jane Holden both acheived their Triple Crowns this year and the Club reached all ten goals in the Distinguished Club Program, making us a 'President's Distinguished' Club. The Standard has now been set for the 2007/2008 Committee!!! Our last meeting was held on June 7th and we have now broken for the summer recess. See you back at Sears on September 6th!!
